Hi Piper,
I also got into the Experimental MFA. 97% going.

From what I've heard from MFA students, and seen of MFA student reels, it's a very strong program. As an MFA student, as far as I know, you can take classes from both experimental and character animation departments--whatever suits what you want to pursue, and what your end goals are.

The thing I'm most excited about is being around top notch talent among all the animation students--actually, I think this is what the Cal Arts MFA has over other schools'programs. Being in a challenging, stimulating environment is what's most important to me. Try youtubing experimental animation cal arts mfa...you'll find some pretty interesting stuff.

Did you apply to any other schools? I also got into USC MFA in Animation. I'm still unsure what my final decision will be.

Let me know how it goes! Also, do you have a website of yours I can check out? I'm really excited to get to know who my peers might be.

ACCEPTED.

To Character Animation. :D

My letter is dated March 9, so I'm assuming they're just sending out letters as they go.

If it's alphabetically, then I should of been one of the last to recieve a letter actually. Last name starts with a "V".

Thank you everyone!

Congratulations! Mine was dated March 5th, and I got it on the 10th, so I think you're right about that. :)

It's completely random- there is no order in their letters.

For instance, I had my portfolio in by the priority date, I did not get my letter of doom any faster or slower than others. My last name starts with a "C", but latter letters of the alphabet have already received their letters as well as earlier letters.

They may simply be sending each letter out as they reach their final decision, or the student working in the office for the mail may be shuffling them around while he ponders what he should do for his figure drawing class- WHO KNOWS!

The fact of the matter is- you get it when you get it- and it will be when you least expect it.

Revel in this time... Relish these moments. The moment you get that letter in that painfully plain envelope or in the thick colorful burst of congratulatory enthusiasm- Your life is forever changed. Don't rush it.

I also applied to UCLA and Pratt, but I haven't heard from either yet. I thought about USC but I missed the deadline. The main things holding me back from Calarts is cost and location (I prefer to be in the city). I don't have a website. I should try to get something up...

Yeah, I also applied to UCLA but have no heard back yet. I'm so attached to the idea of Cal Arts though now, I don't know if anything could change my mind....even cost. We'll see.
