I only clicked on a few of these (cuz I haaaaaate links), but i LOVE what you have here. : D

I think that since they're sketchbook pages, youv'e gotta go through and decide which ones are strongest and put them on the same page (if they're as small as I think they are) I think a chunk of your portfo should be some of these drawings. For def. : D

I ended up tearing out pages of my sketchbook (observational) and sticking them on one page and sending them in. There were about 3 or 4 pages of observational sketchbook pages. I also sent in a sketchbook of nothing but super quick gestures. I tore out a lOT o of pages. lol. Less is more. I think sending a sketchbook is risky. Very risky. Cuz that's a lot to look at and a lot to see flaws and such. So um, think about it. : D

But yes yes yes. Love these and will look at more. : D
Yay. Cal Arts........
CSSSA 07 all over again.

Great stuff, I love your linework. I agree, pick your best, and make a collage type presentation. Are you sending in an 18x24? If so, you can cut and paste your strong ones on 1 or 2 pages like I did.

Thank you for the feedback! I've considered just getting a few big pieces of paper and collaging sketchbook pages. It seems like a good way to show what you do outside of figure drawing class and shows that you draw all the time. :)

Once again, thanks for the feedback!

"How many pages of the sketchbook do I need to draw on?
Well over three quarters of the book. Think of your sketchbook as a physical manifestation of your thought process. If you submit a sketchbook with a lot of blank pages, what does this say about your thought process?"

What about torn pages?

I agree with was said above: just select and put together the best stuff you have. I will also give them only a selection of several sketch books I filled over the last year. I'd also try to include some more expressive drawings but I know that it's hard to find such expressive figures when you draw people on the streets/in school. So, try to bring some quick, expressive drawings in as well, at least that's what I'll try to do. BTW I really like your style and especially the pig-like animal you did. Really interesting line work!

Hi there! I'd say get rid of the second page though. To me it kind of serves no purpose. Also, I really like your line work although I think perhaps you could stand to do more gestures like in the 3rd link to show that you try to think of how the figure works, not just the contour. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll try to get a few more expressive poses in the future and post them. I'll try taking out the second page as well, they were actually notes from an art class that I dropped out of(the teacher's style seemed very structured, and I didn't feel that I could creae a proper portfolio with mainly photo-realistic drawings).

I'll try posting more when I have more. Thanks again everyone!

I love those animal sketches. I think if you stick with that kind of loose/flowing line you can really produce some cool stuff.

Quite frankly, I dont feel comfortable giving people crits, Im pretty clueless myself.

I see you live in california, are you going to portfolio days at CalArts? its in october, I'll be going hoping to get some kind of direction

Going to portfolio day would be fantastically helpful, I hear it's on October 19th this year? I could be wrong, but it seems like the perfect place to take your observational sketchbook and get some suggestions.

Totally, it's probably best to go to the source for some direction.

You don't have to rip out your sketchbook if you have a coil sketchbook. Then you can just pull them out of their binding (without tearing them) and then place them in the order that you want and like .. throw the ones you don't like into the sketchbook. I think this way you can also make like a cover XD

OH and I'm hella jealous of your sketches. I can't get that loose, or make it look that good while loose!
