Well, we're all here waiting for stuff to happen and it isn't, or at least not that often, so why don't we get together and discuss other things. Are any of you guys working on any personal projects? I mean, Character Animation people, I assume you do more than gesture drawings in your free time. Experimental folk, whatchu doin peeps?

i love skyward sword its such a great game :), I'm going to have a pixar marathon when i get back home next week....
I had a Pixar marathon not too long ago! Now I'm thinking Miyazaki, or just watch Tangled non stop. haha :D Actually..I'm working on my portfolio for 2013 as much as I can, going to school full time, and finishing my last 3 months of being a hair stylist before I really go in to prepare for school.

You waste no time, I made my portfolio-sketchbook in about a month or so and I guess it shows... if I'm rejected I suppose I´ll follow your example.
Miyazaki is good, but I personally prefer Satoshi Kon, shame he had to go so young. Also have a huge backlog of games aside from Skyward Sword I´ll play some day.
On an unrelated topic. I've noticed many of you work. Its kind of a personal question but how were/are you all planning to pay for tuition?

@Hannah, I'm a hair stylist too! Or was... Haven't been behind the chair in years but work at a company right now selling mannequins to salons. Hey, need any heads? ; P I've been marathoning obsessively! But mostly Golden Age Disney and X-Files alternately :)
@Federico In the event of when I go to school I hope to get work study/campus work, possibly provide cheap student hair cuts(so freelance other skills you have), help keep up a small etsy shop, apply for scholarships and grants...and then comes the debt. I expect to come out fully and deeply in the hole.. But for me, the necessity to pursue this career path heavily outweighs the "debt free" life (which doesn' t exist) .
@Federico Yeah. I've been saving to take a couple months off to get serious. I've been working so much; it's hard to be creative after a day of cutting, coloring hair and talking. whewie.
I'm sure Mary knows what I am talking about! How long did you cut hair? Why did you quit?
Amen sister! For about 6 years as main income, got my license in 2003. Only a couple years salons. Really just wasn't for me. I love all of it, especially the art of it, but the salon atmosphere(and I tried a few) and me just did not jive. So I moved into wigs and theatrical hair(then back injury). Currently have a stupid desk job in a grey cubicle and actually miss being on my feet all day...weeeird, I know. But if I have to be in a cubicle for now, at least there are mannequin heads everywhere...an odd comfort ;P
I have a long list of projects I have to get done to empty out some of the stuff in my artsy stuff drawers. Right now I have to get done two more illustrations before I start working on them, but I'll try to construct a list.
HERE IS MY TO DO LIST, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:
-finish a goddamned website, and stop being so picky about it
-figure out tax stuff for etsy, so I don't get screwed by the government
-make cards to put on my etsy and start decreasing the pieces of linoleum i have in that giant stack
-paint the rest of those wooden yoyos I bought
-paint the wooden mancala set for someone's birthday
-finish painting my paper mache boxes
-sew pencil cases. I bought everything for it and forgot about them.
-EMBROIDER SOMETHING AWESOME
-make more paper puppets
-make more shadowbox paintings
-paint more of my frog. People like him.
-start a dream sketchbook. (I have only ever finished one sketchbook in my life)
-make more thaumatropes! those were fun
-Make silhouette things for people.
-sell those mustaches on a stick people loved so much last year
-*edit*I done forgot business cards
People want to know how I maintain being so creative, and its by having a list that's a mile long to last you through the following year.
Oh, and I bought a program a few months ago for changing people's handwriting into fonts, and I've used it twice. Anyone interested in having a font of their handwriting so I get my fifty bucks worth? If so, pop me an email and I shall send you the files to print so you can get writing.
mimetalk@gmail.com btw.
well, curently , there is only one thing in my life: get finished my graduate animation. the first thing in the morning is to open computer and draw, go out to get some food to eat is my rest. Hope my graduate film would be good enough, cause that gonna be my next year's portfolio if i get rejected this year

Here's hoping for an active day on here(aka more decisions rolling out)!
Got it! Woohoo, thanks Federico!
And now, while we wait...
