I'm sorry that I write about myself a little bit later, but in the time after I signed up at animatedbuzz I suddenly didn't found this forum even though it had been suggested to me.
Now about me: I was rubbing my eyes, when I saw that I was accepted into CalArts!
My name is Wei Wu and I started my application for CalArts shortly after the graduation from high school last year. Now I’m 20 years old and, yes, I spent 13 years at school in Germany, which is the standard for German students. My parents are from China, so I’m also able to speak Chinese.
I spent the half summer and fall 2011 after graduation for English learning. (I had to take the TOEFL). Therefore, I was really freaking out when I saw on the CalArts application website that the Office of Admissions somehow didn't received my TOEFL!!
I already thought that it was too late because my application wouldn’t be complete without these scores. BUT I’m accepted!
Long time ago, when I was still visiting the kindergarten, I loved to watch “Vicky the Viking” and “Heidi, Girl of the Alps”, maybe that was the first time I fell in love with animation.
What I like? Art & animation, a cup of hot chocolate, Charlie Chaplin and the smell of new books. I’m looking forward to learn as much as possible about animation and I will draw until my left hand falls to pieces or my brain explodes from creative thinking.
I’m so excited to see you all and CalArts!!
And no, I won't make it to the Accepted Student Event. I didn't even got my student visa... D: Please correct me if I made any grammatical mistakes. I’m still improving my English. -
Does someone of you know which kind of computers are used at CalArts? Do CalArts students need their own computers for artistic works or do they usually work with school computers? I am curious because my laptop is not sufficient for work in high quality (it’s also too slow!).

on a side note, are any other east coasters attending the accepted students day in nyc on tuesday? if so, i'll see you there! (look for a ginger chick with some dumb looking glasses)
