    Hey hey,
    Thought I might drop a line- :)
I’m Jamie and I’ll be in Character Animation for the Fall.
I was born in California but raised in Massachusetts, my 18th birthday is in May, I have a collection of indie comics and Batman, and I like making weird stuff out of anything.

Honestly, I was surprised when I got my acceptance letter and subsequently, it gave me a little heart attack, but I couldn’t be happier.

The years looking up to this school, all the new talented people, the graduates that served as my heroes – if a box could fit my excitement, it could also fit 10 planets.

Seeing how everyone here is such talent powerhouses, this will be nothing short of WICKED.
(Hope to see all of y’all this fall!)

hey guyssss i was just checking out my financial aid offers and though i knew already, this school is ssioooo expensive... plus i think the tuition raises are on its pitch. the previous institution i attended have also raised theirs couple years ago. i'm afraid i would graduate with more debts than achievements, honestly.

Me too! When I wrote to a CalArts student from Germany few years ago and she said that the academic costs for one year are about 40 000$... HA,HA... (sarcastic laugh) D:

I was laughing with sarcasm too Wei! I noticed tuition went up about a thousand more and their Cal Grant was reduced from $9,708 to $5,472!
I know they have payment plans and other things like that, but I wish I could pay in arms and legs maybe? Just not my drawing/animating hand. Just kidding!

Hey everyone! Is someone of the international students here booking a round trip to CalArts? I just saw how damn expensive these one way trips o L.A. are. What is the maximum weigt limit for your baggages? I am only able to take 23 kg with me... (I even took more stuff to a one-week highschool hiking tour to Crete!!)

    hello everyone! it was really great meeting a handful of you! we are all so excited to have you join us and can't wait to see what kind of art we'll be making next year together! if you have any questions, always feel free to ask any upperclassmen (preferably after April... many of us are currently going crazy over our film hahaha). i know it's very hard to commit to coming to calarts but in the end, for me it was all worth it. best wishes and let's keep in contact! ^^;

Hi, my name is Alex, 23 years old. I'm a new one in this forum.

I didn't apply to Calarts yet bcoz i've just been in US for 7 months and now i'm just getting some art classes and English class in community college. I'm an asian. When I was in my country, i was studying Animation in an Art university but didn't finish, and my country is so bad about animation so I decided to move to US. I fell in love with animation when the first time I saw the movies "Nightmare before Christmas" and "Angel and Idiot", so that why i want to be an animator.

I wonder if I apply to Calarts for Spring semester next year, and i didn't have GED or US high school diploma or even i didn't finish college, I have only the high school certificate in my country, so is that ok? Or i should get GED classes now? I don't know Calarts require it or not, so anyone know it, plz help me. I also worry about the tuition fee in Calarts, i wonder how students in this school can pay for it, when FA is not enough :(

Nice to meet u guys, I hope I can get the accepted letter for next year, can't wait to meet many artists in this school :D

Hi Alex! I think you don't have to be worried about an US high school diploma or GED because I'm also an international student and I only have the highschool diploma from Germany (I also do't have this GED stuff). But you defintely should have good TOEFL test results!

Really :O So how could u send them the Letters of recommendation? did u give them the letters from art teachers in Germany?

Yes, I did! But of course you should also send a official translation of your letters of recommendation. Everything you need for your application to CalArts must be in English (officially translated), otherwise it makes no sense at all... If you are unsure about what the Office of Admissions requires, you should write an email to them. They really helped me a lot! ;D

Ahh, hello. I think I'm a tad late with my intro and everything. My name's Justin, I'm still in my last year of highschool and just turned 18 (my birthday was the day of the new student reception, aha.) I don't think I got to meet a lot of you then since I slipped off at some point to talk to some of the current students in the lounge.

I have to admit I was fairly surprised I got in to CalArts, and it looks as though there are some very powerful minds on this thread alone... how intimidating, I look forward to properly meeting you all at some point though~

I don't post much online at the moment, but here's the tumblr I occasionally update (and just did.)
