Hey you wonderful people!
I'm a BFA1 Experimental Animator in CalArts and have decided to start this awesome thread for you guys!
I've been in touch with Mary Patchell and I've been following the other thread - saw that you guys have been realy curious about how the Experimental Animation program works here. It's a really enigmatic program, I feel, and not much is said about it so it seems really exclusive. But it's not! You'd think we were all dressed to the nines in hipster outfits with dyed hair and many a tattoos and piercings or something, but that's just a handful of us. :D I totally agree with you guys about the ambiguity - I had no idea what to expect when I first got here and it took me a whole semester to finally understand what it was all about.
Well, feel free to ask any questions or bring up anything you'd like to discuss. Or, if you'd just like to tell me about how your day is going, then GO FOR IT! I would be more than happy to help you guys with whatever you need; anything to help alleviate the worries. :) You can also post up any sources of inspiration for you guys and links to your work! I'd love to see them. Let's get a good list of the accepted students going!

Matthew, have you not heard back yet?
Yep, still no word from Calarts.
I feel like I'm acting out the movie Groundhog's Day. I keep reliving the same routine of checking my status, but it's always "pending a review" haha
Hope we hear back soon.

Jamie has bullied me into joining this thread! I'm also a BFA1 Experimental Animation lady, currently sitting a few feet from Jamie at the work desks. I'm glad to answer any questions for you guys, too! And I wish you all the best of luck!
Hahaha! Thanks Jamie! :P Thanks for caving Isabela! You guys are too awesome.

Okay. Jamie doesn't bully me. But she lures me into things with her Chai tea concoctions. And, oh no, Mary! That's an awful dream. Luckily I found out in February last year, so I didn't have to wait too long! But I did have my fair share of anxiety dreams, too. And Jamie couldn't have said it better! We're rooting for you all and are super excited to see new faces around here, but we welcome you with open arms to the "experimental" community wherever you end up. Annnnnnnnd you should definitely try to make it for our BFA1 Experimental gallery. Mostly because Jamie's installation will blow your minds.
Hahaha! Lucky duck!! This wait has got me all "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" I mean, I am...but that's neither here nor there ;P
You guys are just the sweetest! It's nice to know we have cheerleaders on the inside. ;) I'm gonna do my darndest to make it out for the show. Jamie's installation sounds KILLER!!

Another day of nothing. So much for my gut feeling. . .Maybe I was just hungry. lol
Hahha, the gut might still be right! It's only like 1pm in California :D
...or you could just be hungry.
