Do you guys think sending my portfolio out on the 3rd would be too late? I really want to get every last second I can to put the finishing touches to my portfolio.
And yeah, the weather in Chicago is all over the place. It snowed a good foot or two the past Sunday, and now this New Years Eve is supposed to be nearing the 50s.

i used to work at the admissions office and I noticed that they kept looking at portfolios well after the deadlines usually. I was all salty about that because i rushed so hard to get mine in by the deadline. Maybe things have changed now and they're more strict about it I dunno.
I haven't mass emailed the 500 members on the forum yet because the site isn't quite fully functional but hopefully when it is, and once I start advertising this thing, ppl will start coming here. It might get craaazy haha. -

Oh wow I want to see all those 200 portfolios! I'm just surprised that they're not on here yet but hopefully you guys get in since yall are more prepared and on animatedbuzz! Ohh yeah i think it's 120-140 who get accepted. I heard all the statistics at the campus visit but I didn't write them down or anything :/

I know, it would be awesome to see all the portfolios. It would be very helpful in seeing what they do and don't want.
I believe each class has somewhere from 40-50 students.
Yknow, its strange when I think about it, because they evaluate portfolios right down to the last minute, in mid-march sometimes. Why is the deadline so freaking early if they do this?

ha cause there's so many people who send them in late i bet! If they had the deadline in feb the late people would be sending them in in march. I know that for experimental animation the whole faculty looks at them, then again that is a smaller program and less faculty

I'm sure there are a ton of people who don't post but still follow these forums. But it's still strange that there aren't more. I still remember going to NPD in Chicago and seeing only me and one other forum member (chicagochelsea) having figure drawings in our portfolios. Maybe the small class sizes and the low acceptance rate is so daunting that people don't even give CalArts a thorough research to know exactly what they want.
