From what i seen, i looked at LCADS art classes that you will be taking and they look amazing. Wether you go to Cal Arts or LCAD you have to be good when you get out to get a job. The classes they have will help you get the job you want from what i see in any part of animation production.
I went to a school (SVA) that did not offer those classes and i see the importance of everything you will be offered.
I say go to LCAD for a year and apply for Cal Arts. If you don't get in at least you know that you are in a very very very good school But go for it and remember don't compare you stuff to other students work. If your gonna compare then do so with the greats
for Laura i graduated from school and i'm going through hell with student loans right now as we speak. You can go to a school despite costs if you know in your heart you have what it takes to succeed and you will make sacrifices. If that means working three jobs and going to school full time then you will do it(it's possible ). It's about how bad you want t...  ...  more

    Thank you every one!!!!!.
Yeah i realized it's a personal goal to get better. I do want to get better and i have to do that on my own and get a lot of critiques along the way. I feel that SVA didn't have classes that we needed that other schools offered and thats why i had wanted to go to Cal Arts. There are things i can learn there and i will be in California.
Even our Chair man of The Animation department realized that after going to tons of schools in California and others that we lack the proper training. After i graduated which was last year , he decided to try and replicate the classes so hopefully the new students will get the training needed.
The traing in SVA is different also. New York is mainly geared towards independent film making which is different from learning how to work at a studio . Also SVA teaches people the older school ways of animation but we are not in that time any more. I value the old teachings though it is needed and must not be lost but we were not taught the new technologies need...  ...  more

You can go to a school despite costs if you know in your heart you have what it takes to succeed and you will make sacrifices. If that means working three jobs and going to school full time then you will do it(it's possible ). It's about how bad you want to make your dreams come true. It's worth it if in your heart you want it. But if your afraid take up something else and never forget you dream. Take classes on the side and get tons of books. Teach yourself as much as you can. Go to animation gatherings, learn about events so you can attend them. Never forget your dream and you will make it in the biz. It's possible with no formal training yunno. I didn't get any help from the government and i don't have help from my parents and i went to a school that pretty much 20-40,000 a year But i wanted it and i'm dealing with it...And i know i will be fine and get through it. so i'm in a house worth of debt but it's worth it to me and i would not change a thing (maybe the school i went to lol)

I value the old teachings though it is needed and must not be lost but we were not taught the new technologies needed to keep up with the work force. I want to learn on my own and come into my own as an artist but you also need training also. I've been fortunate enough to befriend a lot of old time working animators and great artist so i will be continually asking them for there advice as well as everyone here. I was afraid to go for it, don't know why....but i will GO FOR IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Excuses and thanks for the critiques!!!!! Over all after careful consideration, I'm not going to go to school unless i want to later in life and work on being a better artist. I think the reason why i wanted to go to was because i wanted to work for a bigger company unbelievably bad. I wanted to prove to myself that i was good enough by getting into a studio and i realized that i don't need to be in a big studio for me to see that I'm good.
