    Some of my friends from school and I are planning to apply for the summer associate program at Disney. Since we're all Canadian we have to apply by February 28th to make the international student deadline but the job posting for 'Associate Program' hasn't been posted yet. I was just wondering if you possibly knew why they haven't posted it. I know this isn't exactly your area of the studio but you were the first person to come to mind who might know so I thought I'd ask. If not, do you know of anyone I can contact who could help? He was two desks behind me when I interned at Studio B and Clio came over to join us on the last day so it became a massive chatfest. It was fabulous! Yeah, I came in to town on thursday september 25? I think. Don was teaching toonboom, so I assumed it was a second year course-- wait, are you in first or second? I think I'm getting too ahead of myself lol. I am working on a huge portfolio right now, but decided against Calarts mostly because I purely can't afford it at all. Too bad, because it would have been fun!  less

I'm constantly surprised how small the industry is. I'm contemplating applying to the Disney summer student internship too because Sarah came for a guest lecture last semester and encouraged us all to apply. She was really inspiring btw! I have almost no chance at being picked but I figure there's nothing to lose lol. Yea that was a 2nd year class, I'm a first year. I'm excited to see your new portfolio! Is it exclusively for the TD program or are you using it to apply to Studio B, Bardel, etc. as well? What kind of stuff are you putting in it?  less

Wish we had him-- our teacher was Don who, though great, cannot draw (and said so himself, haha). I did not win the Studio B internship, although me and two other girl's got honourable mentions for it. And then the three of us won the apprenticeships through Bardel. I got to do Story, which was really really fun; I was put on to a project for Viva Pinata when I was there. The person who won the internship in my year was Kelvin Luo; I believe Lauren Airiess won it the year before? I think. As to the year after I'm not CERTAIN but somehow I think it was Mike something. I'm sorry I don't know more. Sarah's great! She used to come to lifedrawing a lot when she still lived in Van so I got to harass her a ton-- she's also really supportive of me and answers my stupid emails so A++ to Sarah. As to the new Portfolio, it's pretty exclusive to TD only because this is my last LAST chance to really wow them, so I'm sort of losing my mind and doing a project of doom. I'm rea...    less

He's great though:). I don't think they do the Bardel apprenticeship anymore:(. Do you know if it's animation over design that they look for or is it just best overall strength? Yea it seems like a lot of people I talk to have emailed her. It's really awesome of her to be so helpful to so many people. Good luck with the TD portfolio! I'm working on one for the Associate program for design/visdev, I have no chance but there's no harm in applying I guess lol.  less

    capilano university in north vancouver. canadian universities are almost all public so tuition is government subsidized so we dont have to pay much.

    haha thanks! id still love to go but ive sorta moved on. as great as calarts is, i dont think its worth over $40,000/yr especially when I'm paying less that $4,000/yr where i am now.

    no im going to a local animation school until the end of next year. i might reapply for 2012, i was rejected last year cuz my portfolio was garbage, but i havent made up my mind. i may work in vancouver or apply to gobelins instead.
