just peeking in to check and see if Josh finally got in and YAY HE DID! I knew you could do it bro :) congrats everybody who got in, and condolences to everybody who didn't. i know you'll be great if you just keep pushing forward. getting into art school is only a fraction of the battle, now the really hard stuff starts!

i've been rejected twice. the second time, i later found out, was because they felt like i was more of a character animator than an experimental (which was the only MFA program they had) so i kind figured if I was rejected, that would be the reason why i want to be involved in character animation so it was either accept it and move on or go in a completely different direction. both times i got rejected were really painful, but the portfolio application process really helped me improve (and i'm sure the rejections themselves fueled some kind of inner motivator as well) you guys just have to remember that calarts is NOT the destination, the job or the personal film is. calarts will just be a part of the journey, and if you don't make it in, you have to remember to not stop walking.

i go to scad now and the animation program is really nice. they really spend a lot on the animation kids, and a lot of the students are really dedicated. there's always some art director or animator or company giving a lecture like every week, and i'm always kicking myself because i generally have to work. i commute from midtown near oglethorp mall, and there are some safe apartment complexes out here. all the scad buildings are card access, and there's a 24/7 security officer in the animation building, so i feel pretty safe coming and going there when i have to work late down town has it's nice spots and it's very BAD spots, like yamacraw for example. do not go out alone by yourself after dark, it is not a good idea. i work in that area though, and it's been okay so far during the day, but yeah. the animation classes are great though, they have 2 disney animators and a former calarts prof that teach the 2d basics, and the animation club is really popular

i enjoy the rush i get when i draw something i think is cool.or course that goes away a day or so afterwards, so there's a continuous pursuit of that feeling, like i'm actually good at something also i have a few rivals
