I remember a few stills from when you were working on your film last year. It came out so wonderful! The energy behind it is inspiring. I absolutely cannot wait to see what else you make! Good luck with all of your applications, you are very talented and have a beautifully developed aesthetic. Bravo lady!  less

I, unfortunately had a series of family crises that took over my life this year and was unable to reach my goal of applying to CalArts :( As sad as that is, I'm happy to be here in Chicago with my family right now. Healthy and alive. I'll be starting some classes at Columbia College Chicago this month to get me back in gear and on track for 2014. Maybe I can even slam out a second BA in the meantime! ;) I intend on sharing and discussing on AB again as I get back into gear. I love following people's progress on here, and figure I should contribute the same. Hope everyone is breathing!  less

For sharing, positive and constructive(emphasis on CONSTRUCTIVE) feedback. Each of us comes from a different background and has their own goals they are trying to achieve. This is where we can say, yes that was communicated, or this or that element could use clarification, etc... Who the person is behind the art and how they communicate their goals is just as important as the art itself.  less

Yeah, I definitely want a safety net-cause no matter what CalArts decides(hopefully it's a YES this year!) I need to be back in school ASAP. I'm going to look at that program-I remember looking at it a few years back. I am actually pro open enrollment schools sometimes. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in '07 in theatre. They have open enrollment and what I discovered is that it simply isnt for everyone, but it can be PERFECT for some. If you need a lot of guidance or aren't sure which direction you want to go-that type of school isn't for you. BUT if you know what you want to accomplish and just need the assistance from professionals in the field to help you take your work to the next level(as well as the connections you make) - then those schools may be just perfect! I met with the animation head at Columbia this week, and essentially I can create my own program(it's slightly different for first years, but the opportunities are endless-you just have to seek them out, they will not...    less

What's your story morning glory? Experimentals are all over the board with backgrounds(another reason I loooove it!).

I'm also trying to find other schools to apply to in addition. I really feel like i need to be back in school next year, no matter the CalArts outcome. There just isn't much in the way of stop mo around. Have you come across any other programs in your searches?  less

    Hey y'all!  I thought I'd start a thread for 2013 Experimental applicants since there are so many things that are different with it.  For us who are applying for a second or third time-the portfolio submission method has changed and we are now t...  moreHey y'all!  I thought I'd start a thread for 2013 Experimental applicants since there are so many things that are different with it.  For us who are applying for a second or third time-the portfolio submission method has changed and we are now to submit through Slideroom.  This scares me, as I am someone who likes to touch everything-but we are in a digital age, so I better get used to it! ;P  I talked with Andrew Ahn and he said that although most of the submission will now be digitl, we do still need to send in the physical copies of our written work.   I'd love to get an open dialog going about all our work and written work too.  I found AB so useful last year, and didn't find it until after I had sent everything in-doh!   So how are everyone's portfolios coming along?  Feeling the time crunch yet?  Less than 4 months to go! :0  less
