Not sure if this is the right place for this topic. If not I'll move it to the appropriate forum. First off my name is Ash Branic. I'm 27 years old and I've been drawing since I was 5. I've been drawing seriously (as in I decided I want a career in it) since 2013 when I started drawing digitally as well as traditionally. My biggest influences are John Kricfalusi, Jhonen Vasquez and Disney (Glen Keane, Eric Goldberg and several others). My dream is to be a storyboard artist. I've been through a lot of hurdles and blocked paths in my life and the biggest one is I have concluded that I simply can never afford a 4 year animation school due to not being able to borrow a certain amount and coming from a low income family. The only thing I can afford is community college in my home state (Ohio) that has very limited animation resources and classes. Basically I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to what I should do to get into the industry and move forward into becoming a better artist. I'm taking as many art classes as I can and also looking online to see what's available for me. I was also wondering if anyone knows anyone who is willing to act as a mentor for me. I've been looking for someone who has the time to help and or teach me what they know. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
